Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialist M/W

Main Purpose

Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the pa-tients/beneficiaries health conditions. Perform rehabilitation oriented medical assessments, sets up reha-bilitation treatment plan, follows up patients’ evolution, and evaluates functional outcomes.

Accountabilities

• Apply his/her medical knowledge and skills to diagnose, treat and prevent.
• Performs medical initial examination of every newly admitted patient in OPD: documents patient history and clinical data in the file (Initial examination form) and prescribes necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols, under MAM’s supervision. Makes sure that medical file is complete.
• Assesses and follows patients’ physical impairments, functional limitations, level of dependence. Set up with the support of MAM patients’ treatment plan, including physiotherapy treatment. Organize follow up (consultations, XRay and Lab tests prescriptions when needed).
• Carries out medical consultations in OPD, scheduled and according to the needs, works in close collaboration with physiotherapists and nurses (discussion with physiotherapists, pain management, dressing, wounds follow up etc).
• Is involved in IPD patient’s care, in the scope of decentralization of rehabilitation, under MAM’s supervision.
• Communicates relevant information to surgeons (through communication sheet, lab tests, Xray).
• Keeps the patient and his/her family informed about his/her condition, evolution, and provides appropriate explanations about the treatment received in BMRC.
• Handles, in coordination with MAM, any medical emergency situation involving patient or BMRC staff, taking necessary actions to stabilize and refer to appropriate facility.
• Can, upon request of MAM, participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data.
• Can, upon request of MAM, participate in the implementation of electronic medical recording(EMR)
• Knows and ensures all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control. Ensures professional confidentiality is respected.
• Participates in medical OPD meeting (every other Tuesday), daily IPD rounds or project meetings (every other Wednesday) and trainings upon request of MAM/MTL

Requirements

Education
Medical Doctor diploma, Rheumatology and rehabilitation specialist or practitioner.

Experience 2-year experience minimum as a Rheumatologist and or rehabilitation specialist or practitioner. Experience desirable in Orthopedics Rehabilitation care

Languages English and Arabic is essential.

Knowledge Essential computer literacy (word, excel)
