Scenes from the conflict in Yemen, including the Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF)-supported Ministry of Health hospital in Sa'ada City, damage from the aerial bombing campaign in Sana'a, and displaced people in Amran.

“I've never seen such a high number of war-wounded patients with really awfully graphic and complicated war wounds," said Dr Joanne Liu, MSF International President, of the current situation in Yemen.

Joanne has recently returned from spending two weeks visiting MSF's projects in some of Yemen's most war-torn areas.

"I was deeply shocked by what my colleagues told me and by what I myself witnessed in Sa’ada, Amran and Taiz Governorates.

"The continuous shelling in the north of the country, violent combat and pervasive insecurity mean that civilians cannot access health structures to get the medical assistance they desperately need.

"We're close to 9,000 [patients] in less than four months. This is a record number of war-wounded in a conflict for MSF that we have taken care of. It's highly traumatising," she added.

In the historical city of Sana'a civilians, local response teams and Houti fighters clear the rubble of four houses that were destroyed by a Saudi Arabian air strike on 12 June. Six people were killed and an unreported number are still missing.
